How to use TimeLogger Step-by-step guides for everyone in a workspace — from setting it up, to tracking time, to signing off hours. Every example uses the Acme Studio demo workspace, so you can follow along with the same data.
How TimeLogger works Step 1 Desktop agent
A visible app on each computer. Members see what it records at all times.
Step 2 Tracking policy
Decides what may be captured, for whom and when. Nothing is collected outside it.
Step 3 Capture
Time, apps and sites, activity counts and — only if the policy allows — screenshots.
Step 4 Timesheets
Members review and submit their time; approvers sign it off.
Step 5 Export
Approved hours leave by CSV, PDF or the API into payroll or billing tools.
Two ways to track live in the same workspace: a manual timer people start and stop, and an automatic agent that records inside working hours. Members always see everything recorded about them — the same view their manager has.

Projects & tasksOrganise tracked time into projects and tasks, and decide who can log time where.
Everyday useTrack time, fix entries, submit timesheets and see everything recorded about you.
Track time with the timer Start and stop the timer, pick a project and task, switch project without stopping, and what happens offline. Use the desktop agent Connect the agent, read what it collects, and understand the tray, idle prompts, private time, pausing and what happens after a crash. Review and fix your entries Add manual or offline time, edit and discard entries, review idle periods and attribute unassigned time. Submit your timesheet Check your period, submit it for approval, and what Submitted, Changes requested, Approved and Locked mean. Your screenshots See every screenshot taken while you track, delete anything personal, and what your manager sees instead. Your activity and reports Apps, sites and scores in My activity, and your own reports and exports in My reports. Notifications and the weekly summary What you’re notified about, choosing in-app or email for each, quiet hours, and the Monday summary of your week. Your data and privacy What’s collected about you, exporting your data, asking for erasure, webcam consent and two-step verification. Managing your teamFor managers, leads and admins: who sees what, approvals, screenshots, reports, exports and the org chart.
Roles and who sees what The six roles, whose time each can see, and why everyone sees everything recorded about themselves. Live board and live view See who is tracking right now and how their agents are doing, and start an audited live view where policy allows it. Approve timesheets Approve or send back submitted timesheets, approve in bulk, lock periods, and review entry changes that need approval. Review screenshots and activity Read a person’s screenshots, apps and scores fairly — blur, “Removed by employee”, webcam photos and the Worth a look flags. Reports Summary, Productivity, Entries, Worth a look and Approved hours — with filters, derived metrics and CSV, Excel or PDF export. Export approved hours Hand approved hours to payroll or billing: layouts, Harvest and QuickBooks import files, Xero and Deel recipes, rounding and the API. Members, departments and teams Edit people after they join, change several at once, and set up the departments and teams that decide who sees whom. App categories Label apps and websites as productive, neutral or unproductive, mark meeting apps, and see what relabelling changes. Timesheet settings Timesheet periods, rounding, default projects, and whether people can edit their own time. Tracking & policiesChoose tracking modes, write tracking policies, and understand compliance profiles and regional rules.
Tracking modes explained Manual timer, Automatic and Hybrid; the Visible and Silent variants and Silent’s gates; and the capture window as a fence, never attendance. Tracking policies Start from a template, edit every capture setting, assign policies to scopes, and schedule changes that collect more so people are told first. Compliance profiles and regional rules Standard, GDPR-safe, HIPAA-safe and GLBA-safe profiles, score-only capture, and the rules that apply in the EU, Germany, the UK, US states, India and Australia. Deployment & devicesInstall the desktop agent across your fleet, tell people first, and keep devices healthy and up to date.
