Getting started

Create your workspace

Sign up, pick your country and tracking mode, and review exactly what will be collected before anyone is invited.

ForOwner

A workspace is where your team, projects, tracking policies and timesheets live. Setting one up takes a few minutes, and nothing is recorded for anyone until they have joined and read exactly what the workspace collects.

Who can do this:OwnerThe person who signs up becomes the workspace owner.

Before you start#

  • Know which country most of your team works in. It decides the privacy rules TimeLogger applies automatically.
  • Have a rough idea of how your team works: people starting their own timer, or tracking automatically during working hours.
  • You can change every choice later, and apply different rules to different teams or people.

  1. Open the sign-up page

Go to /signup (or choose Get started on the home page). The form has five short steps: Account, Workspace, How you work, Review and Done.

  2. Account: your name, work email and password

Use a password of at least 8 characters. You’ll sign in with this email.

  3. Workspace: name, country and timezone

The Country sets your compliance profile. For example, a workspace in Germany or France starts on the GDPR-safe profile, which limits screenshots and turns off webcam, search-query capture and Silent Mode. The timezone is used for reports and working-hours windows.

  4. How you work: pick the closest fit

Choose one of four starting points. It becomes your workspace’s first tracking policy.

  5. Review: see exactly what will be collected

The review lists What we collect and What we don't collect for your choice, plus how long screenshots and activity are kept. If your country’s rules changed anything, you’ll see Adjusted for where your team works. When it looks right, choose Looks right — create workspace.

  6. Done: invite people or install the agent

From Your workspace is ready you can Invite members, Download the agent, or Go to my dashboard. Inviting is skippable — you can do it any time from Members.

Step 1 of sign-up. The stepper at the top shows the five steps.

The four ways to work#

CardWhat it means
People start and stop their own timerManual timer. Nothing is recorded until someone presses Start, and it stops when they press Stop.
Track automatically during work hoursAutomatic, working-hours fence (recommended). The agent starts at sign-in and records only inside working hours. Outside them nothing is captured.
Track continuously on company devicesAutomatic, always on. For company-owned computers, with an explicit notice to the people using them.
We can’t use screenshotsScore-only. Apps and sites are classified into a productivity score, and no images are ever taken.

Not sure? Start with working hours

The working-hours fence is the most common choice. You can add a manual timer for some people later, or move a team to score-only, without starting over — see Tracking policies.

What happens next#

  1. You land on your dashboard as the owner. Your workspace name appears at the top of the sidebar.
  2. Invite your team from WorkspaceMembersInvite member. Each person gets an email link to join.
  3. Install the desktop agent on computers that should track automatically, from WorkspaceDeployment.

What the member sees

Before anything is recorded on their computer, every person sees a plain-language notice of what this workspace collects. They can reopen it any time from MeMy data & privacy.

Questions#

Can I change my country or compliance profile later?
Yes. The owner can change it in Settings, and must give a reason, which is recorded in the audit log. Every policy is re-checked against the new rules.
Is there a free trial?
New workspaces start on a 14-day trial of the Business plan, with no card needed. You can see the days left in Billing.
Does TimeLogger track attendance or location?
No. It tracks time and work only. It never marks anyone present, late or absent, and never records location.

Something unclear or out of date? Tell your workspace admin, or write to the TimeLogger team from Settings — we update these guides with every release.
