Workspace settings
Name, time zone, retention, timesheet periods and rounding, regional rules, the Silent mode acknowledgement, two-step verification, API keys and billing.
Settings holds the workspace-wide defaults: name and time zone, compliance, retention, timesheet periods and rounding, security, API keys and — on its own page — billing. What the agent actually captures is never set here; that always lives in a tracking policy.
Workspace and retention#
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Workspace name | Shown to everyone, and in invitation emails and notices. |
| Time zone | Used for workspace-level reports and capture windows that follow the workspace’s clock. |
| Compliance profile | Standard, GDPR-safe, HIPAA-safe or GLBA-safe. Owner only, with a reason. See Compliance profiles and regional rules. |
| Retention — Screenshots & webcam | Days to keep images. A policy can set a shorter media retention override for the people it covers; the shorter period always wins. |
| Retention — Apps, sites & input counts | Days to keep detailed activity. Time entries and notes are kept forever on every plan. |
Choose Save settings after changing any of these. Deletions made by retention are recorded as signed receipts in Governance.
Timesheets & hours#
How time is grouped for approval, how hours are rounded in reports and exports, and where unlabelled time goes. The full guide is Timesheet settings.
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Timesheet period | Daily, Weekly (Mon–Sun), Twice a month (1–15, 16–end) or Monthly. A change applies to new periods; existing timesheets keep their dates. |
| Default project | Where automatic time without a project goes. Someone’s own default project, set on their member page, comes first. |
| Rounding | No rounding, or to 1, 5, 6 or 15 minutes — to nearest, always up or always down. Applied only in timesheet totals and exports; stored time is never changed. |
Regional rules and the Silent mode acknowledgement#
The Regional rules card holds the state or territory and, in Germany, the works agreement reference — see Compliance profiles and regional rules.
The Silent mode acknowledgement card must be signed by the owner before any policy can run the agent without a window. It needs the Business plan or above.
Read the text
Choose Read and sign… on the card.
Confirm
Tick I have read this and I confirm it as the workspace owner. and choose Sign acknowledgement. It’s stored with your name, the time and your IP address, and written to the audit log.
Withdraw acknowledgement switches every Silent device back to the visible agent at its next check-in.
Two-step verification#
Everyone can turn on two-step verification for their own account under MeMy data & privacy. The owner can also require it for the whole workspace.
Turn it on for yourself first
The switch stays disabled until your own account uses an authenticator app.
Require it
On the Two-step verification card, turn on Require two-step verification, add a Reason (recorded in the audit log) and choose Require it.
People without it are asked to set it up at their next visit and can’t use TimeLogger until they do. API keys and desktop agents are not affected. If someone loses their phone, an admin can choose Reset two-step verification… on their row in WorkspaceMembers.
API keys#
API keys let other systems — payroll, billing, BI — read approved hours and other data through the public API.
Create a key
On the API keys card choose New key, give it a Name, and tick only the scopes it needs.
Copy it once
Choose Create key. The full key is shown once under Copy your key now. Store it in your secrets manager; TimeLogger keeps only a hash.
| Name | Scopes |
|---|---|
| Demo export key | timesheets, time, projects, members, reports and exports — all read-only |
A key acts as the person who created it, narrowed to its scopes, and is limited to 600 requests a minute. Revoke a key from its row at any time. See the Public API overview.
Billing#
Open WorkspaceBilling to see your plan, trial and seats. You’re billed only for people who tracked time in the period — invited people who never tracked anything, and people who left, don’t count.
| Plan | What it means |
|---|---|
| Solo | Free, 1–3 seats. |
| Starter | $4 per seat per month billed annually ($5 monthly). |
| Business | $8 per seat per month billed annually ($10 monthly). Needed for Silent mode. |
| Enterprise | From $14 per seat per month. Choose Talk to us. |
Trial#
New workspaces get a 14-day Business trial with no card needed. If it ends without a plan, the workspace moves to Solo: nothing is deleted, but Business-only features such as Silent mode stop applying.
Change plan or payment details#
The owner chooses Choose Starter or Choose Business to pay through Stripe’s secure checkout, and Manage billing to update the card or download invoices in Stripe’s billing portal. Admins can see the page but not change the plan. TimeLogger never stores what you pay — amounts are read live from Stripe.

Questions#
Why can’t I change the compliance profile?
Does rounding change people’s recorded time?
Who counts as a seat?
What happens to API keys created before scopes existed?
